Several hundred Stoke fans had to wait at least seven hours outside the Brit today to get their hands on tickets for Stoke's first Premier League match against Bolton at the Reebok.
Whilst season ticket holders who had been to over ten away matches last season had been able to buy tickets earlier in the week, today was the first day that all the remaining season ticket holders could get their hands on their tickets.
Queues began to form outside the Brit at around 3am and by the time the ticket office opened at 9am the good natured queue was winding it's way back to the Boothen End.
With the club's typical disregard for the supporters in these situations, it took over seven hours for the four ticket office staff to sell just 1,500 tickets as they insisted on checking all season tickets, away cards then keying all the details into the club computer, ticket by ticket.
It was not much better if you phoned in on the club's premium rate ticket line with callers waiting up to two hours.
If this is the case for a match against one of the more unfashionable members of the Premier League, then let's hope that the club can sort out this ridiculous situation before fans plan to travel to the likes of Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and Anfield. It's about time that the club either scrapped it's away card system or found a 21st century way of selling away tickets - have they not heard of the Internet?
