Sorensen signs up at Stoke

Sorensen signs up at Stoke

Danish international, Thomas Sorensen has signed a three year deal at the Brit to finally end Stoke's long hunt for a new keeper.

The 32 year old was released by Aston Villa in the summer and had been on a week long trial at the Brit, but it only took two days for Tony Pulis to realise that he had finally found his man.

Marton Fulop had been poised to sign last week on a £3m deal from Sunderland, but personal negotiations proved a sticking point and as soon as Pulis was made aware of the Dane's availability as a free agent, he moved quickly to snap him up.

Pulis has often remarked that he wants to bring experienced Premier League players into the Brit and Sorensen fits the bill with over 300 appearances at the top flight of English football and 72 caps for his country. He was at Villa for five years after joining from Sunderland in 2003, but slipped out of the first team in the wake of Scott Carson's arrival on loan last season.

So all in all, this seems to be a good signing of a proven keeper who is still capable of holding down the number one slot back home in Denmark and we still have £3m in the bank to spend on another player - Danny Higginbotham perhaps?
