Broomes Red Card

John Rudge has acted angrily to the outcome of the appeal against Marlon Broomes' red card that he picked up at on Saturday following an incident with Southampton's young striker Theo Walcott.

The Football Association has upheld the referees decision and confirmed the four match ban.

Director of Football Rudge said 'We are very surprised. We have been advised an extra game has been added to the suspension as a consequence of the appeal. We have been told our appeal was considered `frivolous' and we are bitterly disappointed by that conclusion. In fact, we think it's scandalous. We are not in the habit of appealing against red cards for the sake of it. In fact, just two weeks ago, we chose not to appeal against Michael Duberry's sending-off against Crewe because we did not feel it warranted us doing so. On this occasion, we felt that Marlon was wrongly penalised and our appeal was submitted with complete conviction and with video evidence which we felt supported our viewpoint.'
