Potters Rumour Roundup - 08/06/08

Potters Rumour Roundup - 08/06/08

The Rumour Mill has now churned out the name of Sunderland skipper, Dean Whitehead as another possible Stoke target as the Potters continue their hunt to beef up the squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The 26 year old midfielder has one year left on his current contract and it is thought that he's not happy at the Stadium of Light. Stoke appear to be ready to put in a £3m bid to try and lure him down to the Brit.

Anthony Gardner's name is still doing the rounds on the rumour mill and there are reports that the former Vale player has said that he wouldn't mind a move back to North Staffordshire after lacking opportunities under the new managerial regime at Spurs. Stoke are reported to be proposing a £1.5m fee for his services.

Ipswich Town's Jon Walters is another that is attracting attention and the Tractor Boys would not be happy if their 'player of the season' was to leave Portman Road.

But one player that Stoke don't appear to be interested in is Rangers' Gabon international, Daniel Cousin. John Rudge has rubbished reports of the Potters' interest and told the Express: 'We have a list of players and I am in regular contact with the manager and Daniel Cousin is definitely not on our list.'
