Nugent heads latest Stoke rumour list

Striker, David Nugent has emerged as the latest subject of the rumour mill amid reports in the national press that Stoke are preparing to offer Portsmouth 4m for his services.

Nugent had been a loan target for the Potters last season, but that failed to materialise as Pompey progressed further in the FA Cup and Harry Redknapp wanted to keep some first team cover. So it would seem quite possible that Tony Pulis would now try and secure the services of the former Preston player on a permanent basis.

It had been reported last season that Nugent was keen on a move back north to be closer to his family after he has failed to get a regular start at Pompey since his move south last summer.

Can any of you guys see this happening? As a Pompey fan I don't think that many fans expect Nugent to move anywhere this summer. All the press about it is just getting annoying.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, Nuge probably doesn't want to move down a step anyway!

If Harry brings a few strikers & Nuge is down the pecking order it 'may' happen.

I can't see it; like Sneakay it's just "reporters" looking for a story. HR is not going to let him go for 4mill and he will be useful in all our cup runs this year

I think you need a proven premiership goalscorer. Nugent didn't exactly set the Premiership alight last season.

I do not think Nugent is the player to give you hope of staying up, you need someone with a proven record in the top flight. Not going to be easy to find, and certainly not cheap. Good luck next season.
