League investigate Owls loan fiasco

League investigate Owls loan fiasco

The Football League are investigating after Sheffield Wednesday broke the rules by naming six loan players in their squad for Saturday's match with the Potters.

Stoke are hoping that the League will deduct the point from the Owls and award the match to the Potters, but we'd not expect the League to do anything so dramatic.

Previous rulings would lead us to suppose that they'd just be fined as only four of the six actually played during the match, but Stoke have a right to be bitter after they were forced to drop loanees, Paul Gallagher and Gabby Zakuani to comply with the rules.

With Sheffield Wednesday just in the relegation places, their point was just as vital to them as the three points were to us. So whatever the outcome, no-one is going to be happy.

When will the decision be made? I think wendy should have a point deducted. I dont think Stowke will get the three though.

£2k fine is right for a technical infringement based on what happened to other clubs who committed the same offence in recent years. Only 3 loan players on the pitch at any one time and 2 didn't get on at all, therefore the match or end result not affected by this minor technical infringement so lets move on, I'm bored of this issue now!
